😓Current Situation: Typhoon / Tropical Cyclone Information Near Philippines





Typhoon Tapah (2025) 


  • International name: Tapah

  • Philippine local name: Lannie

  • Formation and dissipation: Formed September 5, 2025 → dissipated by September 9

  • Intensity: Peak winds around 65 knots (≈ 120-130 km/h), central pressure approx. 975 hPa 

  • Duration / Presence in PAR: It was active within the Philippine Area of Responsibility for a short period; brought heavy rains and flooding in Metro Manila. Not currently reported as staying over the Philippines as of September 15.



Tropical Storm Peipah (2025)


  • International name: Peipah

  • Philippine local name: Kiko 

  • Timing: Early September (formed around late August / early September) 

  • Strength: Relatively weak tropical storm; max winds ~45-50 knots; central pressure ~ 990-992 hPa 

  • Impact: More significant in Japan and nearby islands; in the Philippines, mostly as a tropical depression or weak system, afterward weakening further.

• Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas: scattered rain and thunderstorms expected.
• Moderate to occasionally heavy rains likely.
• Possible flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas.

• Extreme Northern Luzon: moderate easterly winds; coastal waters with waves around 1.2 to 2.1 meters

• Other regions: light to moderate winds; waves about 0.6 to 1.5 meters, with slight increases in open or coastal waters.
